North rebel 8m vs 9m?

Postby atomic-chomik » Sat Aug 02, 2014 1:59 am

Does anybody have any experience with comparing theses two sizes? The wind chart has them a mere 1 knot apart on the bottom end, and looking at designer Ken's "tech talk" , apparently they are tuned a bit different. Im 195 and it is going o be my allrounder/wave kite and obviously like smaller but maybe the 9m is better suited according to how it is "tuned?"
Is there actually a noticeable difference?

no experience for the North but I would say the bigger the better, even more true once you are more experienced as a kiter!!!

I used Rebels for many years I don;t have 2013-2014 models but I found the wind charts from North to be accurate. If the chart says 1kn difference it's probably right. Small size Rebels are hugely powerful. If you move your kite a lot in the air get the smaller size, if you are park and ride get the bigger size?

I love my 2014 9m rebel. I'd go for the 9m with your weight.

What size are your other kites? That's usually a deciding factor. Bottom line, the difference is very little, one works better when the wind goes up, and the other when the wind goes down.

Ya, I've got a 6m Ben Wilson and an 11m 2014 Evo.. Im kind of pinched on either side by the wind range of those two kites.
Not easy to nail the perfect quiver is when you add a kite at a time.
