Hi all,

Hope you are enjoying good winds 8)

I am a beginner kiter looking for a new board.

My current gear is:

RRD Obsession 2014 13.5m and Obsession 2012 9m

My board is RRD Placebo 2010 144x47

I am 90 to 95kg and most of the time we ride in about 6,7 m/s and very rarely to around 10m/s

My current board is Ok for lightwind and flat water by very bad for choppy conditions at least for me, also the board is very heavy. I will keep that board and won't sell it no matter what I get.

I am currently offered Nobile T5 2013 140x42cm.

Also some RRD boards and North.

Right now I am in Croatia and Monday and Tuesday I might try Nobile boards but unfortunetlly they don't have big sizes over here.

On my way to Bulgaria I will pass by Zagreb and over there they have Cabrinha dealer so I might see these as well.

I know it is a hard question to answer but I will be thankful for any opinions on RRD, Nobile, Cabrinha and North boards for heavy rider looking to keep the board and progress to intermediate.

I am willing to spend a bit more money on the board and keep it 2-3years.

Thank you.

In case youre heading up to Bulgaria, the local shop in Burgas represents all the brands mentioned above .They also have lots of latest test gear . Thus you may choose the best that suits you. Check Surf shop Burgas on their www.surfpm.com page or call them, ask for Peter.
Steady thermical winds in Burgas are avalable almost every day in August..

i have shinn monk and king George, my ocean rodeo mako kills them hands down in every way but pop through chop and waves and surf, better carving edge to edge , no rear leg fatigue due to balance riding, softer through chop, better flat standing on top , don't have to watch nose of board through surf etc .....my 150 by 40 glides like my 134 by 42 monk.......I am 73kg. research the mako great freeride board

Hi there... at your weight and with the brands you mention see if you can try a Nobile XTR 140 x 46.
It's made as a lighter wind freestyle board but at your weight I think it could be a good regular ride for you.....

I think, in case your base for comparison is this RRD board, there are lots of good options...
Keep it as LW board and the boards I'd suggest you to test are:
Jaime 139,
NHP 137
In such conditions as yours, upwind ability is of great importance, so check 2HD either...

Thanks for the replies :-)

I am not sure if I can get Ocean Rodeo anywhere near me.

I will check the North Jaime...and the other Nobile boards

So the Nobile T5 2013 is not a good choice for me

You might not enjoy the Mako if you're a beginner...

The Ocean Rodeo Origin 142x47 is a good free ride board, easy to ride but still good fun. Works good on our choppy lake conditions too.

My Axis Limited is a fantastic board too... go for a 138 or smaller and it'll compliment your other board nicely.

Monk forever, a lot smoother and better than the t5 from nobile. The nobile nhp was my favorite before trying shinn boards. The monk has also 2 years warranty. It is by far my, all time favorite.
My friend matthieu which has strted this summer had a nobile nbl i think (beginner board) he just got a monk on my recommandation, he cant believe how he improved since the board is, faster, smoother, tracks better, edge better.

All kind of other good board out there but for me it is my favorite.
