Hey hey guys. Had a few emails about this so wanted to give quick update straight from LF USA.
Yesterday 8/15 is the official release date of 2015 LF Kiteboarding Info. This means, this is the date that our USA retailers start to receive their dealer information for the year and can start to sell and advertise the 2015 product line.
Our LF Foil is included in this dealer information and price list and so all of our dealers are very excited to get their hands on these now that they see them on an order form. While we are now accepting our dealer preorders on them,(which helps us forecast initial production volume) we are not taking orders from consumers or taking any $$ from anyone! We've all seen how that plays out in the foil world!
Right now, we are only promising 'very soon' for our USA and worldwide LF dealers. Within another week or 2, worldwide LF distributors will have their first rideable 'sales samples' these will be rideable and perform the same as our production foil will be, with the exception of having CNC machined wings, as the production molds are just being completed now.
We are expecting to show our first complete units, with finished, molded parts to LF dealers at Surf Expo tradeshow in Early Sept. Only once these final parts have been signed off for production after final testing will we be able to commit to delivery dates, based on our production schedule.
Like so many others before us, we've learned a ton in this process of designing and testing kite foil's. We have worked tirelessly on a product that performs amazing, is easy and FUN to ride, at a great price point to make it accessible to kiters worldwide. But, LF is also a company that prides itself on quality products backed by amazing service. Meaning... we will not release a foil to market until we are confident that it lives up to the quality and long term durability that is needed to mass produce a product for worldwide delivery.
Our rideability and performance has been there for weeks, if not months, as you can see on the kitefoil thread about LF FUN FOIL, where we've tried to be very open source and transparent in our process, even posting very early photos and ride videos of working prototypes. The final pieces are making sure the construction methods and materials are right to deliver the quality product we intend to.
We are very close... and we have multiple people working every day on this project in multiple countries to get it into the market as soon as possible and as something that LF can stand behind.
