never had such an experience! have 14 and 10 2013 Rallys - never had any problems with its high end
- 14 is fully controlled up to 13m/s with 141/43 Asylum board by 75kg rider - that`s my boardoff kit)
also still not discovered a high end of a 10, maybe 20m/s and a little more :D
never tuch the trimmer :jump:
Not sure about the 2013. Talked to some Slingshot guys and they said, that the Rally 2014 is quiet different than the 2013. Yet 2015 is a 2014 with other colors :) Thats why I was commenting on a "Rally 2014" subject in the first place ;)

Is it correct, that 20m/s is 40 knots? You sure its a 10? I fly a 6 or 5 in those conditions...

I'm guessing the 9.
I have read a review were the guy says the lease line sags and gets in the way when the 2014 Rally is depowered a lot, is this true?
Yes, get the 9.
It really depends what the winds are like where you ride. Do you just want to buy one or you utlimately going to get a quiver? That makes a differnce depending if you are trying to get the most coverage possible for 1 Rally. However, whatever that single kite is, will end up compromising your choices if you ultimately want to get 2 or 3 of them.
8,9,10...all good. Think of your weight and if you are more medium to low wind kiting or medium to high wind kiting.

Have not seen or heard the leash line item you mention. I guess any kite that has a trip which pulls out and has a loose end could wrap around things, but you really don't need to depower these kites too much. If I have more than 6" pulled in, it's time to drop kite sizes...

I`d say 2014 is more soft as its feels for me - but in general pretty much the same as 2013
to clarify about 10 - yes 20m/s is 40knots)), though its only my guess from how i feel the kite in 13-16 m/s

I have 8, 10, 14. 2011 rally's, perfect sizing. My 10 will need replacing at some point. I think 2014 sizing may be a little bigger than 2011, so would I replace with a 9 to fit with my 8 and 14? If anyone's had experiance with actually using old and new that would be a help.

Can anyone tell me how the Rally compares to the Ocean Rodeo Prodigy?

I used to have 10 and 14 in the 2011/2012 models.
I replaced them with 9 and 12 in the 2014 sizes.
I still fly the 12M on the longer bar that comes with the 14M (23x27). I'd recommend that as when I laid them out the 2014 12 was the same size as the 2012 14...and that kite flew nice on the longer bar. I get the same lowend on that 12. ;)

Interestingly, the 2014s do fly a lot different. Still great kites. For a year I'd been saying I liked the old ones better and I finally got the opportunity to try an old 10 back to back with my new 9...I like the new kites better. More power. Much easier to jump. The old ones are lighter at the bar and faster, which I liked...but there is a lot more oomph in the new ones.

I have a 2014 10m, 12m and 14m and a 2013 8m. I weigh 190# and ride a 135 TT. All good kites for high boosts and long hang times with soft landings; good for double/triple rolls and other tricks where long hang time is beneficial. Turning/looping is decent but not like an RPM or Fuel, and the range is far better than those. I like being well-lit, and ride the 14m from 12mph to low 20's (at Sherman Island where the range is very tight), the 12m 20 to 25, the 10m 23-30, and the 8m upper 20's to mid-30's(I rarely fly it). I agree the 12m has more power than other 12's I've flown, and I could probably get by with that kite alone for 13mph to mid 20's (95% of the time) if I weren't trying to optimize power/responsiveness for boosting/tricks.

Are you saying the 2014 9 is more powerful than old 10 ?

Yes.
The 2014 9M definitely has as much power as the 2011/2012 10M. As I got to fly them back to back, I felt like the 9 had a bit more. Could be the difference in bar pressure/grunt. Both had me going upwind fine, I could easily jump on the new 9 and not on the older 10.

Captain R, That's amazing. It seems a bit off by slingshot, same model should be relative. I can never afford to replace a quiver at a time, it's more a rotation of a single kite per year. I'm going to get a 2014 9m on basis of your advice, a better price now 2015 are out. I love my ten(2011) but it's getting worn. So will have 8, 9, 14, I can't get my head round that !
