Miki I would say yes for sure.. use 4oz or even 6oz glass over it.. when you go to wet sand it to get the mirror like finish on it you will have less chance of sanding through into the carbon which will fluff up like hair.
now carbon/Kevlar cloth don't play with it until you know what you are doing. lets just say crazy glue will be your best friend when sanding it.

Do you mean the carbon fluffs up or the vinyl?
I've worked a lot with carbon and never had any fluffyness? only with Kevlar...
The next board I'm building is going to have vinyl decals applied to the board after prep then getting the decals lacquered in

carbon will fluff alittle on rails and such and if you sand through it , it is just a pain in the ass.. with 1 or 2 layers of glass on it , it just a safe zone for that .
now Kevlar it fluffs like crazy if you hit it with any sanding atall. that is when crazy glue becomes your best friend.
One thing I haven't tried is a iron on logo from a pro printer. I do my t-shirts like this.
I am going to try to iron on to the carbon and see what happens when I press it with epoxy.

I must admit I've never had fluffing with fully saturated and cured carbon, maybe it was a little dry where you've encountered that?

Yes,
http://www.junksupply.com/ can sublimate on topsheets and deliver to you. Any sublimation printer will do (A3 and bigger), but you need to know how to work with a topsheets which is the ultimate goal in DIY builds.
Have a look how Zob built his Alaia with a topsheet:
viewtopic.php?f=107&t=2387034
This is how "BIG boys" are doing it. Sublimation with a pneumatic press. I know only Dan from Cardboards used to offer sublimation over the Net, but Dan pulled a plug on AU market in 2013. We lost heaps back than...
Don't even try to find a topsheet in AU the interest is so low in here no one will import this unfortunately.
