so, this is border line to be within olympics (x-fingers that will happen), both are at the top of the game and they can´t get a proper sponsor and need to share kites?..
kind´of sad

As I said, I'm not sure of exactly what happened. I was just trying to give some idea of why Steph was unhappy despite winning the World Championship.
They have a very good sponsor in North and North boards and Elf kites came out on top.

ah! ok. maybe i was too fast jump into conclusions
in any case this whole race thing seem to be escalating in terms of $$$$$
Foils are more expensive than LEI and think foil boards than ´standard´ boards
they need to create a TT, low cost class to get the kids into this

Johnny Heineken did not compete this year.
He is winning all the hydrofoil board races though (on Chrono foil kites).
Incidentally, virtually all the top racers are riding both course race boards and hydrofoil boards. Since the hydrofoils are faster, we shall see which class becomes dominant.
Anyway, the foil kites are almost exclusively used this year in both classes.

You mean, he competes almost all the time this year, but not in the "old" has-been non hydrofoil class anymore

Yeah ditch the race board.
Foil board looks so much more rediculous ! which is good.

It's a shame because Olly dominated all the other races.
I'm guessing they only had one 18m because the Elf kites sound like they are custom made to order, so probably takes a while.
They are are North team riders. North doesn't have a foil. It became obvious that the inflatable kites can't compete with the Chrono. They can't ride the Chrono because Ozone is North's biggest competition for race kites. What are all the North riders to do? They all have to quickly order some Elf kites before the championships. Earlier in the year though they were all riding the 2015 Dynos.

Thanks - that makes it clear.
I think I heard that they shortened the time gaps between races also?
Bit of a character statement for Olly that he won all 4 races after that.
There is next year - at least it wasn't an Olympic situation.

sad for Olly Bridge. Having suffered -and observed- same kind of disappointment because of miscalculations (counting on the worse race points to drop) when I was doing dinghy regattas. You feel the injustice, or the final results doesn't represent your performance, but we know it's part of the game; paraphrasing what Leccese nicely said.
How ironic that a french won the Formula raceboard Worlds. They were pushing hydrofoil for years without real success until this year. Now Johnny Heineken drop raceboard competition (big mistake) for hydrofoil, and now french are leading formula raceboard!
