Just picked up this vid cam after reading good reviews as alt to the gopro (about half the cost and size). Anyone have any kiting feedback?

[edit - mine is the Ion Pro 3 - so may have different capability and video is likely different quality]
I have one too for the same reason. Vids are beautiful. I leave it in 720/120fps mode all the time just in case I want a slow-mo view.
A couple of pointers:
1. There are several spin offs of the design (that are not as good). A good example is the one from Polaroid. I mention this because the mounts are exactly the same but cheaper. I found the polaroid board mount (exactly the same as Ion) for $10US.
2. The line mount that has an open spot for a through bolt works with a 1/4" bolt as a tripod mount.
3. The helmet mount works as a strut mount. Take a cinch strap that came with one of your kites (should be the right width) and thread it through the helmet mount. Set up the camera along the side of the strut. You can create all sorts of angles because of the way the mount works.
4. Update the firmware immediately and check frequently for updates.
[edit - GB rather than MB]
5.The camera takes vids in increments ~4GB because of FAT32 file system limitations. So you end up with several individual video files after a day of recording. I'm hoping they change that some day, but I suppose they are going for maximum compatibility.
I've not really tried it at night or twilight, but in sun or overcast the video quality is superb. I'm happy with mine so far.

I also have a ION Pro 3 Wi fi. In my opinion the best feature of ION cameras, and also for Contour cameras, is the REC ON/Off switch. Using it on a helmet you always knows if you're recording or not
