So we just found out the kid's sports schedules will allow us all to get away for their spring break in early April.
Price being a concern and time being short, my wife is looking at several options:
1) Costa Rica, west coast
2) Caymans (I'm assuming no wind)
3) Turks & Caicos.
4) Barbados
My vote is for #3 or 4, that said what are winds like at the other locations that time of year? Talk to me about kiting in Costa Rica in April specifically. I have to agree to someting quick before she goes back to her plan A which was Universal Studios!

Cocoa Beach is less than an hour away from Orlando. It has been one of my favorite spots to date. Big, wide flats on one side and ocean waves on the other. So all might not be lost if you end up on wife's original plan.

You can join me at Hawk Cay in the keys. I will be there for 5 nights with the wife and kids in early April. Great family resort with lots of things to do and great kiting near by. Otherside Boardsports even runs a boat from the property, and has a cable park for non wind and family fun.
Ask your wife if she would rather stand in line all day waiting to go on some stupid ride or sit around Caribbean blue water drinking a Pina Colada and watching the most gorgeous sunset she has ever seen...

Matt,
Hawks Cay has actually long been on my hitlist...but that's down the road someday as I'm not going there without my Mako in tow so I can do some fishing.
Believe me, I've been doing a full court press with that argument!

What about Puerto Rico?
I am here now and they have amazing spots...and wind should be still good then.
Flats, waves, all you want, and never really crowded!

All your other options sound more expensive, besides CR.

Its an option, but we are generally there every other year with work, Bahamas in-between. Except this year which somehow fizzled to Vegas
Looking for something new.

South Padre or Corpus Cristi should both be really good and not too far away.
