Jalou Langeree takes first place at the women’s wave competition at Dakhla 2015 on her Naish Alana directional.

Formerly known as the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA), the new 2015 Virgin Kitesurf World Championships kicked off the first event of the 2015 World Tour in the kiteboarding paradise of Dakhla, Morocco.

Langeree describes, the waves had “long, smooth lines from early morning till sunset, which was great [and] the wind picked up slowly during the day.” Feeling fairly underpowered in her first heat, Jalou describes that she had to “run back upwind to get back into the competition area—which was pretty intense” until the wind picked up again.

Remarking on her win, Jalou recounts that she “Can’t wish for a better start of the season. Winning the first VKWC on my backhand”—which she focused her training time on—“[is] absolutely great!”
