Today I got to check out a AHD board and ASV-1 foil used for Windsurf foiling... Built tough! Construction is 2 to 3X bigger than kite foiling gear. Interesting to check out the construction of the ASV-1 foil... Uses a front and rear screw to attach the blades to the fuselage. Board to strut fitting looks to be 3x the size of a tuttle box to handle the stress.
The two main sources for windsurf foiling seem to be the AHD and Horue.
The AHD is 4000 Euro for the AFS-1 board with foil and the foil is 2500 euro.
The Horue Windfoil is 1560 euro. The Horue has the advantage that you can use it for windsurfing and kiting by changing the front wing (and maybe the back wing?), or if you opt for the cruising wing (12 knots to get planing on a windsurfer), it seems you could use the one foil for both.
This is the latest Horue Windfoil video. They say 8 knots bottom end for planing. Ahd talk of planing from 5 knots with their foil. Horue also suggest that a deep tuttle windsurf fin box may need strengthened if a heavy beginner is going to use it.
AHD also sell the Sealion strapless board which takes their foil and costs 799 euro, so that may be a light wind option. The AHD has a different mounting box so would not match the Horue foil.
In this next Horue video, at times he is using a 68cm wide slalom board with a white 4.7m sail and the lightwind wing in what he says is 11 knots.
hello Taaroa,
nice foil!! can you explain to me why kite hf have anhedral front wings and the windsurf foil has strait front wing.
what are the main diferences to use this design?
thanks!
