Only mye impressions from over here, fewer schools and not full courses. But dont know about other countries.
As for the other case, i could put out name and brand, but not a good ide. Makes me sad to se the next best rider in a country getting a worse deal than a beginner. Then agen one case over here and the brand is laught about becourse of it... And beginner getting free gear should probably tell what brand though...
Btw we have a lot of girls kiting over here...

I would rather pay more for the gear and keep it a ninche sports. One problem kiting has is you need a lot of space, which can be a major issue in populated regions like the east coast of the US..
Plus I still want to be the cool guy doing that crazy sport
Yeah, Same. Though crowded for me is 25 kites on a 2km wide beach.....
None the less 5 kites is better. For that reason winter is better. All the part time summer kiters shrivel away in the winter months and good days drop to 10 or so. Then when 30+ knots hit. That removes a few less silly or less experienced and only leaves half a dozen crazy hardened nutbars. They are the most fun kiters to kite with anyway...

It's a bit like a visit to the barber shop: it's about talking bullshit, toys and tits.
In the barber shop you'll have your playboy magazine for the tits and the owner for the rest.
In kiting, you have the forum for the bullshit and titty pics, and the kite companies are left with the tech toy talk.
Companies like Best used to use titties, not anymore?

I would award Ruben Lenten lifestyle media achievement award for kiting.
The windsurfing vids are epic -
would people prefer to watch them.... or kite foilboarding / the 124 000th exact same mobe on youtube?
Kiteboarding equipment today is overpriced, no longer marketed so much with a focus on actual inspiring riding and the kit is too specialist /complex and is marketed in that way too. I think kite companies will suffer the consequences of too big a range of equipment and disciplines, for me the great thing has been you can do anything on a singe model kite, it's like no one realizes that people were absolutely ripping 10 years ago without them :-0

Kiteboarding demographics is reflected by those media... the average kiter is 35+, has cash, and would break his neck trying anything more sophisticated than a back roll. If even. So it's a bit like car commercials, they sell you a family van with the connotation of a race / rallye car.

I think until a certain level you can do it all with one kite.
Once you start to specialize and advance you will be in the need of specialized equipment.
At least to my experience. The tricks I am landing are a result of the gear that perfectly suits my style.

Progress slows down, but kiteboarding should have further to progress than windsurfing, and therefore have more epic days ahead.
A new 'jumping' windsurf video - Boujmaa in Maui and Morocco.
