Im an IKO instructor Her previous instructor sold her on a LQ drive 132/36 for her all around board and im trying to get her $ back. Theres no way she could ever ride it here in our light wind and rarely anywhere in CA in my opinion anyway. I just want to hear from you guys. I feel she should be on a 134/39. 132/36 is too narrow right ?

Something along the lines of 130x38 should be good, don't go less wide and don't go wider than 40cm, length can be 2cm more or less.

clint2070:
from san diego? you R right, 36 wide (if that is not a typo) is WAY too narrow. even if she was in the SF Bay area...that's too small for a beginner. First board should be bigger than optimal. I would suggest something like a 134/35 x39 and something soft. And buy used; unless she is an agresssive learner, it will be good for the first year. Then she will know better what to get
