Slingshot Rev 2008 7m and 12 m on a blade unibar V2 2016

Postby sergei Scotland » Fri Jun 16, 2017 1:12 am

Have no experience and want to use my new Unibar V2 with thes two kites?
Blade Unibar us single line flagging and

1) I hope/think the Rev 2008 kites are designed for single line flagging?
I only found this as Rev manual: http://www.walkertelecoms.com/bowmo/Man ... SG_web.pdf

2) Not sure if line lengths in the original Slingshot bar and mine (Blade Unibar V2) are tuned in the same/similar manner?
One would hope so :-)
Would someone be able to confirm that SLingshot Rev 2008 has bridal setup to provide max power on equal length lines?

I think Unibar and lines are designed for center and steering lines are all tight when on full power?

This is what 2016 Blade Trugger manual says about line lenghts for my unibar v2:
Not sure what they mean by "swivel dome is not more than 2 inches (5 cm) from control bar"?
I Thought swivel is for unwinding cental lines and is line is way up above cleat????...
EDIT:swivel used to be on the QR in 2012Blade bar so manual was not updated for Unibar V2: -) : :-( . Bug in documentation I think...

This is what 2016 Blade Trugger manual says about line lenghts for my unibar v2:
CHECKING LINE LENGTHS
All bars come assembled with lines and pass thorough quality control; however, it is important to make sure all lines are at equal lengths
• Lay out your control bar and lines, make sure that the lines are not
tangled or crossed.
• Take a small rod and attach all four lines to the rod (see figure
on opposite page).
• With the depower strap fully released, grab the control bar.
• Having a partner holding the rod taut, stand directly in line with the rod
and pull on the control bar with even force on both sides, straightening
the lines. Make sure that the bar is parallel with your shoulders.
• If the bar stays parallel with your shoulders when all four lines are in even
tension and the swivel dome is not more than 2 inches (5cm) from control bar,
the kite is ready for inflation.
<<I THINK FOR 2016 MODEL THEY SHOUD HAVE SAID 5 cm from QUICK RELEASE???? MANUAL NOT UPDATED? >>>

• If the tension is not even in all four lines and the bar is tilted in even the slightest
bit, the lines need to be adjusted.
• Do not adjust the Flying Lines! Make the lines shorter by making knots in
the Leading Lines only.

You should be good(assuming you've had lessons). The rev will work fine on your blade bar as long as your bar is tuned(4 equally taut lines at full power) . Rev's stock bar also flags to a single front line. The rev only came in odd sizes though(no 12m).

1)Thanks very much for confirmation.

2)

Oops - originally seller said 13m but when I pumped it up i think i saw 12.
Will recheck the lettering on it- it does look different from the 7 m. Could be different model - bag is Slingshot..

3)Thanks for reminder about lessons.. We had 3 days (15 hrs) of lessons 3 years ago - but obviously equipment was supplied and tuned... So no experience in tuning..

I am confident we can fly and ride our new Blade Trigger with Blade bar by just following setup instructions (we did setup our kites and launched them etc). Was not sure if this bar would work with Slingshot.

4)This forum helps a lot (thanks to people running it!).
For example I was about to buy RRD bar (I already had Slingshots and a SwitchBlade).... Reading here figured out that RRD bar was two line flagging and did not buy :-)

Anyway we are going to take some refresher lessons so will ask instructor to help checking safety works and any tuning..

Thanks again for your reply
