Foil Kite Relaunch Champ

Postby Kitemanmuc » Sat Jun 17, 2017 10:39 pm

Hey All,

So am looking for a 14m race foil kite but don't need the fastest, need the one that will relaunch the best.
Ozone R1 is a sponge, the North Ace is decent, FS Sonic is meh.....Kitech is amazing, but no race kite.
Anyone have experience with the Peter Lynn Aero?

Would love any feedback you might be able to get.

Thanks!

The Aero is super watertight. Ozone is indeed a sponge, it wants to hold water instead of air where the Aero wants to hold air ;) A pain in the a$$ when you want to pack down but in the half year I fly them now the only time I had to pack down was during the last Hydrofoil pro tour when the wind completely died on the water and I wanted to be ashore before the next race.
The Aero relanched from situations the R1 was a guaranteed swim with only a few cups of water inside. The same thing I hear from other riders here in the Netherlands, even first time foilkiters that had to swim in due to a tangle didn't manage to get them as water logged as Ozone.

3rd Sonic2. And it's hard to dump in the water to start with.
What's "meh" btw?

It means I didn't feel like it was amazing. It was good but not amazing.
Sonic2 or Sonic Race?

Check which kites can be drift launched without any prefill on land. Sonic v2 is one of them. I think Horst Sergio has even produced a video demonstrating it.

"Meh" on relaunch or "meh" on race performance?

If relaunch critical, why a race kite? Maybe a staying in the air kite is a better call?

I'm a huge fan of Lotus Cloth BTW. A lighter kite is so much way better for staying airborne and the Lotus kites hold less moisture and weight if you insist on giving them a rinse. Polyurethane coated ripstop nylon is more hygroscopic so thank you Flysurfer for Lotus!
