So question is..what size should a 60 year old bloke at 105 kg be looking at buying to get some dry land practice that will form a use full function in a future quiver...or should I get training kite...???
I'm 65, at 90kg ; and personally like the land buggy more than the water.
If you got a beach that's kinda firm at lower tide ; then get a 5m traction kite
first, and a land buggy with medium size wheels, (soft sand needs a bigger wheel).
The three wheel devise can go in wind that's walking speed ; and can handle
winds over 30kt easy. Your weight just helps hold it down.
A 5M you can learn in 3kt wind, (if you keep it moving) ; when you can handle
the kite, then get in the buggy and GO ! After 20 or so hours in that thing ; the
kite board in water is Easy to learn, because most all the rules are the same.
Now you got TWO sports ; with a Really wide verity of wind to use them in !!!
Face it : with your weight , your gonna need a Big kite and 15Kt of wind
to learn ; in the buggy, with 5m kite, were talking 5 to 8kt to learn, and
less when you got it down .
land buggy for kiting :
