The 172 Directional remains in the range for 2004,the most loved of these dedicated directional boards from the 2003 board line. A four fin configuration gives plenty of lateral resistance and slightly rounder rails with a flat hull makes the board loose and easy to carve. Multiple footstrap options allow for a variety of stances and for those who like the directional feel this is the culmination of 5 years kiteboard shaping. This was the first directional board ever made with a tail cut out, a design feature that evolved from a discussion between Jim Drake and Jimmy Lewis and resulted in them cutting the tail off a brand new board at Kite beach in front of plenty of disbelievers. The result was a smooth and stylish board for classic directional riding.
