Description

The Karajol, also known as Qarajel or Quara is a west wind on the Bulgarian coasts. It usually follows a period of rain and typically persists for one to three days.

The Karajol is usually associated to the passage of a frontal system and generally low pressure to the north of the Balkans.

It is most frequent during the winter months (October through March), but might occur all year round.

The Karajol usually brings some dry and pleasant weather. Descending from the Balkan mountains it might even take on some Foehn characteristics.
