Re: Google Trends: Kitesurfing's popularity in decline?

Searches may have dropped off as social media rises - no need to search for your sports when you are bombarded with messages on FB, Twitter, Instagram and all the other channels. Triathlon, Crossfit were also dropping...I'd guess for the reasons above as it seems like they're more popular now than e...

Re: Wave riding styles? Kite powered vs wave powered

As an inlander that doesn't make it to the open ocean much, I must say I love waves in much the same way that I love terrain when snowkiting: it's an added dimension. That being said, I've found it disappointing to come ripping in high speed on a wave from a quarter mile out and then having to slow...

Re: Kitesurf board on no wind days

Mr_zyg I think I'd probably agree with Cleepa. That said, where do you live and what's your surfing background? We're a similar weight; my 'surfboards' are between 33 and 35l volume, 6' - 6'4. My kiteboards are 5'4 - 5'8 and feel like beer mats under my chest if I try to paddle them out. The reason ...

Re: What ever happened to those rotating foot straps?

Not sure about everyone else's beaches but in the UK and my last holiday to Barbados, just about everyone was riding strapless or at least heading in that direction so wouldn't have need for the rotating straps. The odd person I know that does use straps, usually if the swell is large, doesn't have ...

Re: The Duke - A Nobel Addition To The OR Mako Family

Here is a great template for an OR rhino chaser... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAwlzopAqgc Nice looking shape; don't really need the extra length or volume though for a big wave kiteboard as you're already on the plane when you go for the wave Thread drift but you have got me wondering how a bi...

Re: The Duke - A Nobel Addition To The OR Mako Family

I used that epoxy putty for everything, why not? :) I don't sand my repairs down but stretch a wetted plastic bag tight over the putty to morph it to the shape of the board after I scrape off the excess :thumb: Didn't have to drain it. It was one of those spills where you're more concerned about you...

Re: The Duke - A Nobel Addition To The OR Mako Family

Constant rocker all the way through? or more at the nose and less at the back? What sized waves is this aimed at? Pretty constant the whole way through - more nose and tail rocker than the traditional Surf Series shape. The concave running underneath effectively flattens out some of this rocker whe...

Re: 5mm wetsuit recomendation out of these models?

If you have the free return that solves much of the issue. FWIW I had a top end kite brand wetsuit and the seam weld on the outside fell off after five weeks, rendering the suit useless. One thing that might be interesting to do is to have Cleanline take a photo of the ankle cuffs of the three suits...

Re: 5mm wetsuit recomendation out of these models?

If I were you I'd take some measurements and a full body photo and get in touch with the brands / shop to see what they suggest. That said I find modern high quality wetsuits that stretchy that I can just choose an L in any brand and it fits fine. I live in a town with about ten wetsuit shops within...
