Hmmm...I can see that being a problem for sure. Certainly wouldn't be something I'd want to do on a regular basis, but perhaps you'd get away with it for occasional o/s travels.

Having just moved overseas from Cape Town to Sydney, we bought and used quite a few of those clever vacuum compression bags from a hardware store- you know the ones where you pack the bags with clothes, seal with a zip-loc type fastening, then such the air out with your normal household vacuum clean...

Yeah, I believe you should only rinse with fresh water if you can allow it to air-dry completely!

Don't really think it's worth the hassle otherwise....
