Re: Calling all mutant riders

LOVE my mako king. Rode it as a first board twintip style until I learned upwinding, then switched to mutant to learn how to ride toeside and toward a surfboard. Getting the hang of my surfboard now, but when the conditions call for it and I wuss out, I prefer the king becuause I can ride it like a ...

I believe that the "ramp 69" is the actual spot where everyone parks for Kite Point. The actual point is a bit north of the parking, if I remember correctly?

We'll see if this means that the "Ramp" still includes about 50yds in either direction for parking.

Re: Scarry When your bar/lin gets tangled in your harness h

This happened to me as well. It was a liquid force bar, with the white lines coming down into the dick. The lines wrapped around the hook, and when I went to release, I couldn't get the dick out of the hook. Had to reach down and untangle it while getting dragged along. A system like the Cabrinha ID...

Re: Best flat shallow spots in florida in feb ?

Kited around Tampa, there are alot of spots, and East Beach is DEFINITELY a great spot. No more than waist high for at least a quarter mile? out. A bit mucky with some shells so bring some kite shoes. I've also heard about kiting in St. Petersberg, though this is on the ocean. There's supposedly a t...

Re: Kites for Kids

Oh, and for heaven's sake, whatever kid it is, get them a helmet and SOME FLOTATION, either a vest or a floaty impact harness.

I guess that's 0.04 now.

Re: Kites for Kids

There's two things a kid needs to begin kiting. 1) enough weight. It's just not possible for a kid to hold a kite down without a certain amount of mass. I'd put that at 100lb. Otherwise, inevitable changing wind conditions are just too much. 2) Enough maturity to handle the kite. And that's the tric...

Can Cold Damage a Kite

Plastics get brittle when they get cold. Even my popup camper was limited to over 50F for folding/unfolding the canopy. So, can a kite get damaged if you fold it up when it's cold? Or, unfold for that matter???

Re: Does your swivel work, or is it a FAD?

Got a Wainman Smoke 9m, and the swivel on the center lines does work, I think when they get really twisted it moves, but sometimes that last twist (I'm a bit A.R. about such things) I have to reach up and tidy it a bit. But it's easy to reach it and twist it if you want. So yeah, it works. Haven't t...

Re: HyperFlex vs. NPX

Bought a hyperflex amp k in 2010, had it for about 4 sessione before it tore out the joints. No taped seams. Not cool. I'm thinking that the original hyperflex were probably good but maybe they thrifted to make more profits? I would go with a known brand. Replaced it with a neil pryde, which is AMAZ...

this little map helped alot. I see the emergency ferry route. Isn't there a ferry to ocracoke at the southern end, then one to hatteras? Is that not running for access from the mainland?
