Re: TitanBond for two layers board

Hi, I don't know the specific PU adhesive you are refering to. But PU adhesives can reach almost the same level of strenght as most common epoxies. But PU is not more health friendly than epoxy. Epoxy is a problem when it comes to skin contact. PU can be critical both regarding inhalation and skin c...

Re: help help help, resin wont cure !!!!!

Hi mattthieu, What you see is a seperation af the resin and the hardner, before the exothermic reaction starts. This can happend if you use a slow epoxy system in thin layers / small amounts. From my experience the best way to remove the none cured layer, is to use water and wet sand paper, and use ...

Re: Do I want a North Nugget?

Hi, I have 2012 North nugget, and really love to ride this little thick bastard. I use it as my bump and jump board but also for wave riding. But I also have some issues with building strength of the top layer of this board. I'm a heavy rider, approx. 95kg and I love to jump on this board. But now I...

Re: Structural repair on a board with PBT skin

Hi Peter, The surface energy of PBT can be improved by a flame treatment. But normally the PBT is ok to bond even without surface treatment like flame, plasma or corona treatment. From my of point view it should be enough to do the preperation like this: - clean the PBT with aceton. To make sure you...

Re: Wide race boards

Hi, Maybe not the nicest paintjob ever seen on earth, but on the other hand no doubt this is custom board :-) A few questions, I hope you will answer: - Are the front fins canted /angled ? . The board seems a little short, what is the length ? - How about rocker and bottom shape I'm considering to b...

Re: Stiffness Vs Strength

As mentioned in another thread, I have broken three boards this season. Untill now I only had focus on stiffness and weight. This mean I used sligthly thick cores, a combination of ligth glass and carbon fiber weaves. But now I know I also have to take of the strength:-)) When comparing carbon and g...

skimboard questions

It's dark, it's cold, it's building time:-) Well we are back to winter time, which means it's getting dark early, so no kiting on normal working days (unless out-of-office is activated :-)) As writen in another poster, I have to build some new boards, as I have broken three this season (I'm changing...

Re: Breaking my boards - help needed

Hello Handy, WOW!!!! I'm impressed. You are 100% right, both about location of the cracks, and also that I'm using 90/0 fiber orientation. I just have one extra question: I assume that the 45/45 orientation is only needed/demaned for the top layer(compression), for the bottom it is still ok to use 9...

Re: Big kiteloop backrolls

I have one problem, which come from massiv backroll - kiteloop transistion trainning. Even if I just want to do normal backrool without looping the kite, I just by instinct pull with my rear hand. Is it easy to do backrool one-handed? This also means I'm not able to do high /big backroll- kiteloops ...
