Re: I believe the ASA is necessary for our sport.

I'm a kiter and I don't oppose kiting bans in National Parks and certain wilderness areas. I'd hate to see someone in there with dirt bikes and ATVs or other banned items. They don't put those restrictions there just to be assholes. Everyone who pays taxes gets to enjoy those areas and believe it or...

Re: Lets start some controversy... he he he

Motz.. who would want you at an event. You just keep me up late all night long pounding beers, raving in the thunder dome, and then are up 2 hours after finally sleeping to go kiting. Your a machine. Brian.. The Stronghold is still holding up ok. I had a seam allowance issue with it where it started...

Re: Lets start some controversy... he he he

I've talked about it breifly with some others.. The first thing I thought of was.. Who the hell can afford to go to every "points" event to compete all winter long? No one I know. It's true that snowkiting events don't really have organized freestyle comps anymore. Focusing mainly on races because t...

Wow, just saw photos of the new frenzy on the vast internet and seeing your pics Brian confirmed it. Cool to see the Frenzy with less open intakes. When they finally close cell that bad boy I might have to pick one up! I've seen people ride Frenzys on water before and the newest generation looks eve...

Re: New rider, looking for help chosing a snow/water kite.

Yep. It can happen with any kite. Basically I'm refering to the fact that a closed cell kite will keep more internal pressure keeping it inflated versus an open cell in a lull. As you progress you can feel the wind change and counter that with some pilot skills to force air into the kite or in the c...

Re: depower foils

I believe the HQ Apex III will come in a 3M and 5M size this year. Can't say what the Apex III will be like without flying one, but if it's basically the same as the Apex 2, great kite!

Re: New rider, looking for help chosing a snow/water kite.

sphynx_000 .. What part of ND are you livin in? I was just there last weekend in Rugby, ND buggying in my uncles fields. ND is a great kite state. Lots of open spaces and wind. I'm biased and only fly closed cell foils. I've got a couple flysurfer speeds, but mostly ride Peter Lynns. The Charger is ...

Re: John Deere riding lawnmower cheaper than a kite!!

Have any of you tried to make your own kite? It's hard. And gets expensive, and in the end it might fly like crap. I justify purchase prices based on how much it would cost me to make it. I could work my job much easier then the amount of time it would take me to design, cut, and sew a kite. So I bu...

Re: What is the one kite you must have?

An outlaw wouldn't be good for water. I think you could track down a 12M Peter Lynn Synergy or even a 13M Venom2 for cheap and be set for land, snow, and water. If you want new, a 12M Charger. Should be enough for your size and safe for learning. PLs are great to learn on. Nice and stable and hard t...
