Re: Kitesurfing near Vancouver, Canada

The 1 hour drive to locust beach in Bellingham, WA is always worth it if your looking for shallow/flat water with minimal crowds and it has good wind all fall/winter/spring if you don't mind kiting in a 6mm suit on rainy days in winter. When the Squamish crowds get crazy in the summer lots of locals...

Re: Unhooked wave kiter - need new kite

There is no reason to unhook for wave riding anymore. That's like saying there is no reason to listen to classic rock anymore because hip hop is all of the rage... Like anything else in life, It comes down to personal preference. I use a sliding hook while on waves so it's more comftorable to ride ...

Re: Unhooked wave kiter - need new kite

My 2008ish generator 7.5 was my favorite unhooked wave kite of all time! The key characteristics making it my favorite were that it flew forward in the window making it easy to manage the power while unhooked (made it go upwind really well for me on a normal bar and small kite as well.) , and it was...

Re: High Wind: Naish Park vs Torch

Another vote for the torch! Ive tried a lot of kites and the torch is by far my favorite in our punchy 25-35 Knt winds.

Re: how much would you pay for a "good" kite knife?

Hey there CJ, I also carry the double blade Dakine hook knife and it is great. the only improvement i could see being made is a slightly larger gap to slip your lines into because the leader lines dont fit in easily (at least in my old model) It would also make it easier to sharpen. As far as the ha...

Re: What kite for strapless riding in 40+ knts/ 20+ ms?

I recently started riding a 5m blade trigger on my 5' strapless surfboard. Its high end is amazing I rode it on a coulple of 30-45ish knot days and I didnt reach its top end. it keeps you going in the lulls when compared to other small kites ive had and its not on/off feeling at all. The stability a...

Re: Black Stains in Brand New Kite!

color bleeding seems to happen at the factories some times and its no big deal... I've gotten new kites in foggy bags before with color bleeding. I think its just from the humidity where they are packaged or something. It wont effect the kite and you will get the kite dirty and probably have some mo...

Re: New Ride Engine harness review

I finally got to try out a Hex-core for a two hour session on friday after months of waiting! I normally wear a size medium but I needed a Large in the RE. I was expecting it to be much more low profile but its about the same size on the back as my normal medium (i guess this is to be expected becau...

I disagree. modern C kites aren't any more scary than bridaled hybrids and you will pay much less for a full C kite because they have such poor resale value.
