solo landing a 5m foil kite

Hi all, I'm a kite foiler, mainly on tube kites but I have a 12m soul and a 4m and 6m FS Peak. Have a chance to get a 5m Airwave Koala but what is potentialy putting me off is landing it in terms of the kite spinning and bridles ending up in a mess as you walk up the lines. I am always the only pers...

is bigger better for cruisy downwinding

Hi all, if you are looking to enjoy some cruisy down-winding in wind swell do you think a bigger wing is better, I appreciate smaller is faster but if you aren't wanting to pump the hell out of it in-between bits of swell then will a bigger foil do the job? I currently use a Levitaz HA1100 for ridin...

paddling

Hi all, my usual winter location has a spot in the corner where very little swell runs so its ideal for getting off the beach etc. However when the wind is blowing straight into this corner I have to lie on the board and paddle for a while to get upwind enough to sail across the beach and not get wi...

Ride height for picking up swell

Hi all, hope you are well, if you are looking to maximise your chance of staying on rolling swell with the wing flagged what’s the thinking on ride height.

Is it best to ride fairly high so the foils are in the swell itself or does it not really matter?

Many thanks

Re: wing size and staying on swell

Thanks loads Peter and no need to apologise, your input is always appreciated! Wondering when you say you go for a bigger wing what do you class as bigger in terms of size? Hi Neil, sorry if I didnt answer the other post :( But no, bigger wings everything else being equal, does not glide better. Gli...

wing size and staying on swell

hi all, i did post the below in another thread, i didn't get a response so trying a new thread! For some people through the combination of placement of the wave, pumping and effortless turning they are able to stay on swell and play around with no problems. For those of us lacking this talent but wh...

Re: Aspect Ratio versus straps and strapless?

Sorry Peter I’m going to take this thread further away from the initial foot straps question! As I mentioned in a previous post on this thread for some people through the combination of placement of the wave, pumping and effortless turning they are able to stay on swell and play around with no probl...

do people get much use from a 2.5m wing

Hi all,

had a few sessions lately where a 3.5m felt a little overpowered (I'm 75kg).

Wondering if people use a 2.5m or similar often and so if they rate it as a size to use, and if its used much or just for occasional crazy windy days?

Many thanks

Re: Aspect Ratio versus straps and strapless?

Hi Peter, I'm so sorry I can't help at all with your question but using this thread to pick your knowledgeable, experienced curious mind instead, hope thats OK! I wing in the UK so generally on windswell, although there is a sheltered spot which has rolling groundswell coming through in the winter. ...
