Re: Question Profile Go Foils ?

The wing is 3d printed and those "milling lines" are the layers of material laid down by the FDM printer.
I bet those wing tips are glued on with some internal rod or bar.
I'd be surprised if it held up. But an interesting tool for testing and interations.

Re: Does board volume still matter for water starts?

I think for conventional kite wings, you need a bit of planing ability. I have a couple boards of 97cm and 99cm and they are big enough. I'm not trying to capture the sub 10 knot sessions though. For lighter winds, a bit bigger would help, as would some volume. If you're riding a surf wing I really...

Re: Quiver Simpicity

I have a moses 633 foil and a Hyperlink 9m UL that I used 85% of my 90 sessions. This is really all I need. The surfboard and 3 surf inflatable kites stayed in storage this season. I'm probably going to sell them, but am hoping my boy will get interested... The other 2 kites I used on the foil were ...

You can make your own too. It's not rocket science. It's a craft, accessible to many with a little study and patience.
Check out backyard surfboard shapers on fb. Or swaylocks online if you wanna geek out.

Re: Does board volume still matter for water starts?

The thing is. With a bigger wing like the moses 633, if the kite will lift you out of the water easily, then it's really easy to pop up to flying directly. If you're a noob, it might take some practice, but not as much as for example learning a flying footswitch. I'm on a 120cm board and it's not fe...

The buffalo theory: A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And, when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group kee...

Re: Pocket board building

What kind of structure might the very light pocket boards have ie. Anton for example claims that the 80cm board is 1,1kg!!! And it's not 20cm wide, but a normal one, 40+cm I believe. It looks very thin however which makes harder to create a stiff board. Just curious how light board a DIY builder ca...

Re: Foilboard (Pocket/Strapless) Paulownia

How about using balsa?
Easy to get 100*1000mm planks in thickness 2-15 mm.
Could do 7+7+7 or 5+10+5. Make Core more of a framework.
Vbag in the rocker. Could laminate with some carbon.

I've been making footboards using surfboard blanks..wood looks fun.

Re: Pocket board building

I've decided to laminate the whole board before putting in bighead on deck side. I'm going to sand down the area on the deck foam around each big head down 2mm. Then put all the carbon and glass on it. Creating a thick laminate under the bighead. Then I'll glue in the big heads deck side, and add so...
