Re: Making launch safer - learning from the experts

I don't think it matters if you have one hand on the QR or not. What is more important is to practice using the QR about once a week or so to build that muscle memory. It does no good to hold the QR in one hand if the last time you pulled your QR is a year ago. This is just how the body works. The b...

Re: What to do with old kites?

I can hardly believe you have 10 old kites that are so used up you can't sell them. Put them all on ebay as a lot, someone will buy them. At $20 per kite that's $200. Sell them as "for parts only".

Re: Lofting - what to do?

When you get lofted treat it exactly as if you were doing a jump. Keep the kite overhead, and when you feel yourself descend, redirect the kite to soften the impact. If you are coming down too hard you might need to use the QR before impact in case you get knocked out. I have seen videos suggesting ...

Re: ultimate 2-kite superlight travel quiver

kites aren't forever. Sell one of your 12's. there's no reason to buy the wrong size kite just because you already have a kite of that size. I'm guilty of holding kites too long too. For me it's 15's that I tend to accumulate. I promise next spring I'm selling 2 or 3 of my 15's.

Re: ultimate 2-kite superlight travel quiver

Why not go with a 12m soul? I've flown a lot of the different pansh kites and own 3 of them, flown several types of ozone, hq, flysurfer kites, haven't demoed the soul but watched it. I'm pretty sure the soul is the most capable foil kite in terms of good handling in gusty conditions just from watch...

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

Honestly I would use a high pressure kite even if it cost more than a regular kite. Being able to get that reduced drag would be worth it. Double skin kites though, leave that for the racers.

Re: Does board volume still matter for water starts?

Good question! I don't know the answer just reading the responses here from the experts. Was the entire idea of having more volume a hold over from the years when we had those giant 100cm racing boards and you always went faster with more volume? For a hydrofoil once the board is out of the water, w...

Re: Leading Edge repair

just a warning do not use any kind of sail tape or canopy repair stuff on the leading edge the pressure is too high and it will split open even if you double or triple it. Make sure you use some dacron or other material that is strong enough to hold the pressure. I usually just cut up an old kite le...
