Re: Travelling with hardshell harnesses

Simce I never get oversized bags on free, at least on domestic flights, I use a big surf coffin bag -same price as a large kite gear bag. Board(s) in middle +/- foil parts, wrapped in kites, +/- towels, wetsuits, with helmet over boad nose and hardshell harness wrapped around tail.

Re: So is kitefoiling dead?

It’s fun to go fast. OTOH I was happy to switch from a 700cm kitefoil wing to a 1200 even though this mostly meant farewell to 20+ knots. Not sure I’ll get back on my 600cm/30knot wing again. Wrecks were brutal. Still have a smaller speed wing I never used…. But 10 knots? Too slow unless synched to ...

Re: COR electric pump

I have been almost exclusively on strutless lei’s since 2016, started lightwind strutless with the first 17m cloud in 2013. 95% of my kiting for 4-5 years had been with 10.4m cloud or 7m cloud. 8 knots foiling to 30 knots TT, 2 kites, good times. Takes a couple minutes to pump them rock hard with a ...

Resin is usually just a very tiny little bit porous, leading to tiny little problems that sometimes become large.

Re: What is going on with bar prices?

Bar has the biggest number of cheap materials to produce = biggest "value"-added opportunity for "greedy" manufacturers. Flipside of the issue, it is highly subject to supply chain/material cost issues, at least as much as any other component. Plus the damn things can last forever if cared for and m...

Re: What is your oldest kite that you still use?

I have the 7m brm c2 prototype Greg used to tune the c2 bridle. Greg sold it on with “100000 miles” on it to a guy who did not keep it long. Have put another 60+ sessions on it. Must be 9-10 years old. Last time out with it also brought a 2011 9 m fuel along for kicks but didn’t use it because I cra...

Re: Diy pig tails- can they be circular?

You can tie a piece if line into a loop and have it work as a pigtail. If you stitch the two sides together near the knot, it will be more streamlined and secure. To make it elegant, lighter and less able to snag, make a loop with buried end as is conventional. Almost anything can work. Loops no big...

Re: Store the foil

If you have stainless to stainless fastening, beware of crevice corrosion. Usually takes several years but no guarantees on that. If you leave all-stainless connections assembled medium to long term, replace the fasteners every few years. Stainless to bronze or marine brass, though, fares better. I ...

Would it be crazy to just JB weld it to the deck?
Nope, seems fine if you are cool with it. Better make sure the epoxy you use gets along well with the mount and with your board’s finish though, or it might just give up and slide into the depths some day.
