Re: Cape Cod Ban, need everyone's help!

Birdwatchers and hikers are assholes. They are usually old people and dont want kiters destroying their "view".

Just like the sierra club ensures that mountain bikes are banned from most national park service trails.

Re: Fitness and conditioning for kiting?

I mountain bike. Mountain biking uses the same big leg muscles as kiting and a little of the upper body if the trail is technical. It is efficient in the sense that you get a lot of exercise for the time spent and you can do it on non windy days. Plus there is similar stoke to kitesurfing. when moun...

Re: Erosion experience question

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if any of you have any successful experiences with anti-erosion measures in areas where longshore (side shore) currents are a significant contributor to sand dune coastal erosion. Have any of you seen successful measures which have resulted in actual sand deposition and r...

Re: Austin, Texas??

For reference, here's a shot of a typical day at lake travis. Notice this one has two legs, I think we might need to double down on the bear traps. Note all the stumps on land. There are 10 times as many in the water. It's not uncommon for a kiter to fall at lake travis and have a stump break the r...

Re: Austin, Texas??

3 to 4 sessions in a week happens a lot less often than you make it seem, and the wind mostly shuts down in the summer. We routinely make 3.5 hr one way trips to get our fix, that should say something about the town. If you want to progress, you're going to have to be prepared to drive to corpus. I...

Re: Austin, Texas??

To summarize: Fall/Winter is north frontal winds (can be around 50 degrees, with 55 degree water temps at lake travis). Wind will generally be in the 18-25 range, but as high as 40 a few times a year. Good wind a couple times a week. If you are desperate you can use a light wind kite and get 3-4 ses...

Re: Getting bogged down riding upwind; any tips?

Hi guys, looking for some advice. Seems like when the wind is less strong I'm getting bogged down. I.E. After I do a few power strokes, get planing, park my kite and start riding upwind, I start slowing down after maybe 30 seconds and the board just sinks. Then I have to restart with power strokes....

Re: Honeymoon help

I'll have a honeymoon coming up sometime soon, and hope to sneak kitesurfing into it. I'm hoping to get some help on choosing a location, any help is appreciated. There are a few posts on this already, and I've read all of them (at least, all those I could find). Unfortunately, my fiance doesn't ki...
