Re: Tips needed for staying upwind in gusty choppy condition

Yea I think I'm trying to be a little greedy at times (pinching upwind to much). It's seems a fine balance between bearing off to gain speed and losing to much ground. It's just going to take a lot more practice to master. It seems the key to staying upwind is speed whatever the conditions. Cheers, J

Tips needed for staying upwind in gusty choppy conditions..

Hello all, I've just got back from an elemental ass kicking! I thought I had mastered the art of staying upwind but today the conditions were awful. The wind was gusting 30 knots but in between the gusts the wind was dropping right off. I can usually deal with big waves but it was extremely h...

Kite maintenance......

Hello all, I am new to kitesurfing and was wondering the best way to look after my kites. Both of my kites were packed away salty but dry about 2 weeks ago. I wanted to get out on the water today but wind on the weekend seems to be my enemy :( Should I think about pumping my kites up, rinsing them w...

Beginner tips needed.

Hello all, I went out for my first solo kitesurf today, managed to do a couple of nice long runs down wind. Although I am terrible on a port tack :x Can only manage 50 metres max, then I seem to turn on to toe side for a few more metres and fall in. Any tips for improving my bad tack would be much a...

Re: Need help choosing my Catalyst Quiver

Yea I think all the cat's are sweeeet!

I'm gonna get a 12 and an 8. I'm picking up an underground FLX 140 x 40 tomorrow. I'll start out on that then get a surf board once I can hold my own!

I should be pretty well covered then.

Thanks for your help!

Still love that 10m though :P

Re: Need help choosing my Catalyst Quiver

Sorry, I forgot to add that the conditions here are very similar to yours 10 to 40 knots plus.

I'm leaning more towards the idea of a 12 and 8. 14,10 and 8 sounds like it could be good further down the line though..this is to stressful, lol

Re: Need help choosing my Catalyst Quiver

Thanks for the info! I will be riding in (Cornwall) South west coast of England. My local spot is Mounts bay (Marazion beach) The wind here can get very...very strong! Especially in the winter, which is on it's way. I was thinking of using a 10m in the windier, controllable days, and using the 14m o...

I have flown Wainman, liquid force and Ozone. really liked Wainman and liquid force but absolutely love Ozone Catalysts's! I have flown 14m and 10m metre Catalyst and also the Zephyr. I got on really well with tho...
