Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

Just saying that from my perspective, they let those kites out the door and it was pretty obvious they were not ready. so I'm very sceptical to buying anything that's ' new' from Switch. Bit strange a lot of people were raving mad about those kites when they were still Eclipse models... the problem...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

The Nitro 1, Element 1 and Method 1 were pretty poor kites. High bar pressure, tendency to over fly and hindenburg, poor or non existing steering at high depower. OK, they were cheap. But zero resale value. Element1 had very low bar pressure. Too low for my taste in the end. Other than that, it was...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

I think many of us are a bit fixated on who designed the new E6. Why? Because in the past we knew Bill was behind Switch designs. It gave the brand identity. As Faxie points out it's a very short time frame to design, test and manufacturer a new kite, which leads us to the off the shelf theory. The...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

Why do we need to know who the kite designers is? We don’t, and we don’t know who he is on many smaller brands. Companies use contract designers because he is not needed on the payroll 365 days a year for just a few models. Heck, some of the big brands over design and make a kite worse one year to ...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

5 struts are a definite improvement. More rigidity and less canopy distortion in high wind. Sure the kite looks like other kites. But most of the kites on the market have similarities to other brands. So in answer to this topic I believe that switch are getting better. At least with there r&d. As i...

Well good luck...I do not like th elong frontbridles and pulleys...and 5 struts, will make them even more heavier? Dude It's no Bandit. The Bandit is outclassed by the previous Element m...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

Let me get this straight, the suboptimal airfoil profile hasn't been noticed until version 5? For example, when they were upgraded version 4 to 5 it was not a priority at all? I can't possibly believe it. There is no 'optimal' airfoil. It depends on your design intentions. Shapes get changed all th...
