Re: DIY kite resize... worth trying?

I don't think you guys are getting it. Maybe I'm not describing it well enough, or the thread title is misleading. I'm not talking about reshaping the kite! Simply taking material off of the trailing edge between the struts. Visualize this: Make a mark half way between the ends of two struts along t...

Re: DIY kite resize... worth trying?

I did this for a client (I do kite repairs ) It was an old 7m c kite. I cut off the wingtips and sewed back some wingtips from a thrashed kite, and ended up with an approx. 5m kite. Cautioned the guy that I had no idea if the kite would fly, or perform, but he was happy with the result. Ended up co...

Re: Stacked Kites

DIY kite resize... worth trying?

I have an older (07) 9m waroo that i'm replacing this winter. Its still in relatively good shape, never been repaired, bladders holding air, no trailing edge flutter, etc... I don't have a smaller kite currently, and would love to have a 6-7m for the 30+ days. So, I'm wondering if its possible to ta...

Re: Kiting and Surfing timing

Typically swell generated from an offshore low pressure system will arrive first. Primarily because they tend to travel faster. A building low pressure system will move anywhere from a few knots to 12 knots, where the swell they develop can move at 12 to 20 knots.

Re: Epic Kites 2011

This will be a good test for the new REEF 5'11" surf board and the RENEGADE 5 "3rd Generation" kites. Or maybe the JUNIOR PRO 4 and the TUTOR 2.5m. Let's see what Hurricane Irene brings us. P.S. Non of these kites have been tested above 58 mph. :o D, As much as I would love to hear about some epic ...

Re: Whats the stupidest kiting thing yourve done?

Coming in from a windy rainy session at an inland local lake...gusty! shoreline is hard mud and slick with the rain. As I get to the edge I loose my footing, and the kite loads up in a gust, pulling me straight toward a 20' tree. I'm skidding barefoot on the mud like its ice! realizing i'm not gonna...
