Re: Gong High Aspect wings

Very high aspect wings on stiff and long carbon masts are usual business in windfoiling. So I installed a Deep Tuttle box at the right (windfoil) position and now I'm winging very happily with my second-hand bought Phantom Iris X freerace setup with a 95cms mast and a 950 and 800 cm2 (94cm wing span...

Re: Flysurfer 'hybrid' kite for hydrofoiling

I would not buy anything that adds weight to Peak4/5s, I do not need extra security other than the lightest possible kite for staying up in the lulls and for the best drift in wavefoiling. Kited most of the last year with Peaks, often in breaking waves or nice swell, had to swim out only 3 times, tw...

Re: hybrid discipline: "Kite-Big-Foil" = wingfoil pulled by kite

To complete my post above, now updated with wind measurements, I think that for lightwind performance it's useful that my recycled North Race LTD was at the top of the evolution of racekiteboards about a decade ago, just before foiling took over. Highly optimized glide, great upwind capacity. Having...

Re: hybrid discipline: "Kite-Big-Foil" = wingfoil pulled by kite

For an ultimate hybrid lightwind experience, a couple of weeks ago I have mounted my high/mid-aspect 850cm2 kitefoil (a windfoil prototype that I use for wavefoilkiting) on my 80l light wingboard (a transformed North Race LTD kiteraceboard) and had a really fun session with a 8m Peak4 and sliding ro...

Re: Flysurfer Peak Size

... One of my best kiting sessions ever required paddling my foil board out through small waves with my 5m peak hanging limply in the sky in what felt like no wind (5-ish knots?) and then using kite plus wave to get up on the foil. Once up I could link several waves and repeat. No way I could get a...

Re: Predictions for Hydrofoils in 2022

Well I don't ride TTs because I prefer carving waves to jumping. Happy on my SB when I can use 6m to 9m LEIs. Under 15kts I'm also happy on my foil with singleskin Peaks. An added advantage of low wind HF wavekiting is that my pleasure to surf is less ruined by ignorant TT riders who have nothing to...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5 is here

It feels like it is more rigid and flies just a tad more like a dualskin kite, but only based on the fact that when I rigged down to a 5 m2 when wind picked up, the 5 m2 felt a bit "soggy" and soft so to speak. Not always bad, as drift is amazing then, and I also know you can not compare two differ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5 is here

So, now with some Peak5s already ridden on snow and water, where are the reviews? Or there are no notable real differences to Peak4, which would be worth to mention? I'm fine with that, only curious.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5 is here

And......Born-kite released Hydro star kite, i think direct competitor to Peak5 for hydrofoiling!!! This must be very interesting kite, forward step before flysurfer hibrid foiling dedicated kite release. I follow him since a bit of time, I find his StreetStar2 very interesting, I would like to try...

Re: can you unhook with the peak?

but in anything more than 15 knots the 6m Peak flaps like crazy. Might work better heading more downwind, but that would leave you unable to get back upwind. If I push hard upwind by edging the foil (straps help) my 5m will not flap until much stronger than 15kts. Then as you say, it will not flap ...
