Re: 20 Years of Kiting!

Thanks for all your info and efforts Rick, and Toby for the platform. My early days were spent trolling the net to find ways to stay alive... Yeah Also been at it since 2000 first on a Peter Lynn Waterfoil then on the arcs. (was the only kites back then you could land and launch on your own). And we...

Re: Triple & quad ripstop

Elongation test? Would be interested to see how that was done and how it relates to real kiteboarding situation. Yes the strength of the material and it's stretchability would be important, but the most important? What about: resistance to violent impact, resistance to flapping, sun exposure, resist...

Re: Hook harness completely broke off

Yeah also had a few snap a while back... once in 35/40 knots... managed to hold on as in snapped one, two... but got interesting after that.
Anyway, I agree, it shouldn't happen but then again car tyres shouldn't explode, but they do. I think you just got unlucky.

Re: Triple & quad ripstop

Another point to take into consideration in the argument for thicker ripstop is flexibility. The stiffer the material, the more it suffers in any fluttering. Stiffer ripstop will show cracks if exposed to flapping or fluttering (like when your kite is on the beach) Ripstop is not inherently flexible...

Re: Maybe I'll get to keep my name after all..

Amazing to see how volatile this industry is... Wipika started it and is long dead, Flexifoil Best / Eleveight North / duotone Cabrinha / Neil pride Waiman mess with investor, As much as people can talk about passion for sport... it appears passion for money has more pull. At least so it seems. Ced

Re: dynamic differences with seat and waist harness

I think most aspects of one versus the other have been covered. However coming from someone who openly admits to using both (love the freedom in wave riding with a waist and when looping or boosting prefer the solid feel of a seat which doesn't rub on my broken stick out rib) I will add this: Changi...

Not kidding: Saw Teenagers with a trainer kite trying to launch the kite upwind from the pilot...
I informed them that perhaps they should get some basic idea first...
Still wouldn't go for lessons. Needles to say they never made it to a four line kite.

Re: Hand drags getting yanked

Hi, Try and loop later and a tighter loop, so that the kite doesn't travel too far in the window. Some kites don't loop tight so to counter that is to depower the kite slightly. Smaller kites travel faster and create more apparent wind and therefore have a spike of power as they travel through the w...

The Kiter and the Whale

So over the last few weeks in South Africa, we've been kiting with whales... and had some unbelievable sightings. Always hard to capture it. This time we got lucky during a video shoot and got this amazing photo ... After sending it to a few people and getting feedback like: It's photoshopped! I mad...
