Re: Aftermarket/3rd party wings

There are three main issues with this idea of using a wing from another manufacturer as I see it. - Mounting - mating surfaces will not match requiring a handy guy to build an adapter. bolt patterns will not be the same therefore some filling and re-drilling would be required or the adapter plate co...

Re: Aftermarket/3rd party wings

Now if someone would make an adapter plate for bottom mounted wings to common bottom mount fuselages...with a shim set, yeah.

Re: Aftermarket/3rd party wings

I reckon that a compatible after-market wing to expand the capabilities of a given performance/high end foil would be worth a bit. Mostly where a person has spent significantly on an expensive foil and wants to get more from it in the form of wave riding for example. I think pricing in the 300 dolla...

Re: Is Taaroa developing a freestyle wing?

Yes, exactly Peter. Around here, other than the old Carafino and some LF, the first foils to become popular were from a race heritage. What has appeared though is companies like Alpine possibly using elements from their earlier R&D to develop a wave solution that is slower to lift off and more maneu...

Is Taaroa developing a freestyle wing?

Rumour has it that Taaroa may be working on developing a mid or lower aspect wing compatible with the existing Joy fuselage for the freestyle market. I for one, would love to see that as I love my Joy but would like to try more freestyle low speed maneuvers in waves . A lower aspect ratio combined w...

Re: North rebels

I have used my 2011 7m Rebel since new mostly for strapless surfboard riding in lots of different conditions and places from Canada to Mexico. I love those North kites. The one thing it does well is to fly fast and point high. I could always point higher than most other kites on the water.Having rec...

Re: All inclusive hotels where you can kitesurf and windsurf?

A good place that I have been to for four years in a row now is the Windham Tangerine in Cabarete at Bozo Beach . All inclusive ( about 3.5 stars on a N.American scale) with kiting right out front and windsurfing in the bay upwind, about a 1km walk up the beach to the rental centers. http://maps.goo...

Thats what I would do. However afer the resin dries I would drill and tap the hole. By 'tap' I mean cut new threads in the hole rather than forcing the screw to cut the threads. You can get a bottoming tap of the thread size or take a footstrap screw and grind two flat sections on each side of the s...

I ride a 9m Switchblade most of time in 18 - 25 knot winds. I find this kite very stable, fast and quick turning. The Crossbow is a different animal, the flatter profile and the scallopped trailing edge ( a true 'bow' kite) causes it to be more twitchy and more prone to inversion after a crash. You ...

cool. yeah, the fastest point of sail on most wind powered vessels is on a broad reach, that is with the wind from the rear quarter. Thats why you see sailboats tacking on a downwind leg, the distance travelled is greater but the speed of the boat is much faster.
