Re: Risk vs reward... learning and progression at 40

IMHO, the reason older kiters get injured more frequently than younger kiters is that the vast majority of people don't maintain their fitness and health through the years. That's also the reason most pro kiters are younger, by the way. By the time most people are in their 30's and 40's, they've le...

Re: Risk vs reward... learning and progression at 40

20, 40, 60, it’s just a number... as long as it’s consensual... kidding The only thing that slows down as you get older is your recovery time. But who said you have to get injured? Risk doesn’t mean injury. If you do everything slowly and methodically, you won’t get injured, at any age. I hope our 1...

Merry Christmas Peter! Yes, I saw that! I actually meant to say that on the other thread. Anyway, next year don’t assume we don’t want to share your joy just bc it’s hydrofoil 😊 Loved your pics. Just what I wanted! Cheers, Dixie

Re: Any kiters here saved the lives of swimmers?

I am working on a campaign at the moment that tells the story of kiteboarding in a positive light. All to often are we cast as the outlaws on the beach, crashing kites and scaring beach-goers. Little is said about the lives that kiteboarders have saved over the years. We love when the wind picks up...

P.S. oh and you won’t find wisdom here, some info, some entertainment, kite news, that’s it🤙 Sounds like you got good instincts, so trust them over us!

Re: Help needed: XR5 and carbon drive Beginner

You chose the perfect kite for you and your conditions, 12m XR5, yes, you’ll need the 9m eventually, but I think you need a smaller board. Have fun & 🤙

Re: Any kiters here saved the lives of swimmers?

Nice story! Just realized the first p-ph of my response disappeared. Anyway, I was saying that I’m skeptical you’ll convince people who hate us to like us more with a rescue story. Haters will hate.... Ppl who hate us tend to hate all water sports, so you won’t warm them up with that. Just accept th...

Re: Merry Christmas to everyone c",)

BTW, Toby and the rest, I started a Xmas thread before you did! Not sure why you didn’t post there! Now we have multiple Xmas topics. A bit chaotic & redundant. Not sure what Toby has against me but treating me with disrespect is just making you look bad. Don’t worry, it won’t hurt my ego, I don’t h...

Re: Merry Xmas to all you Kiters out there!

That’s nice, Lindsey! You are very lucky to have a home to return to. Count your blessings! Many Californians don’t, sold to China. I haven’t been home for Christmas since Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House! Maybe it’s time!

Re: Any kiters here saved the lives of swimmers?

Not swimmers but my husband has saved the lives of fellow kiters multiple times; last incedent was in Paracuru; a girl was drowning in the wave, kite down, scrunched in a bow; he towed her to shore, but ate it himself a few times before they were out of the danger zone; two years ago he unhooked and...
