Snowkiting Gear Question

Looking to get into snowkiting with Skiis this winter and wondering about what gear to get in terms of what kinds of Skiis and anything else I might need? I am 5'10 tall and 185 lbs if that helps. I am fairly new to the sport and have kitesurfing lessons down.

Recommendations on the east coast

Looking for Good learning spot with shallow water anywhere on the east coast. Have been going to the OBX but looking somewhere closer for weekends. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Re: Trouble with self landing

I have self launched but only on low winds. I usDe airush 2011 10 m kite. So I don't have experience in high wind launching or landing.
How do you choose a fixed point or rather could you use a stake as a fixed point?

Re: Trouble with self landing

Okay I get it that fixed point self landing is the safest method. But if someone could post a video to demonstrate all the other methods that would be super helpful for a beginner like me. Also because where I kite I am the only kiter most of the time.
Thanks.

Re: Switch Kites: are they any good?

Seriously considering a 13 m element. I currently have airush DNA 10 m. I am 185 lbs. is it a good kite for a beginner? and also where I am located winds are on the lighter side like 12-15 kts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Kiteboarders Syracuse area?

Did you mean south end of Seneca lake/Stewart park Ithaca? I have seen Kiteboarders in that area. It is a bit of a drive but would be worthwhile if I could meet some fellow boarders.

Re: Kiteboarders Syracuse area?

I have kited Oneida lake at sylvan beach. It has a nice shallow shore that goes a couple hundred feet that is good for beginners like me. But lake Ontario at Oswego has some great winds that I would love to kite.
I will definitely check out Seneca lake. Thanks.

Kiteboarders Syracuse area?

I am new to the sport with some lessons down my sleeve. Looking for someone in the area to go kiteboarding with. There are some cool areas around Syracuse /finger lakes area that are quite windy that we could explore.

Great forum guys. Keep up the good work. Wish you all tight lines and big waves.
