Windwing vs. Prospan

Postby Dax » Fri Nov 19, 2004 7:40 am

I got nothing better to do, so why not talk about this some more... Windwing's 04 kites have a very prospan'y kind of look to them and they came out a whole year before.

Windwing flyers want to speak up?

???

No they don't...

I've been on the WW rage, and seen the outrage. The arc on those kites is quite normal, not more open, and the width of the kite towards the tips is normal not wider.

But then maybe you have a different idea of what the pro span actually is. What were you thinking??

I must be way too boored, spending way too much time here these days. /. all over again. What have you done to me Dax?

Hard to find any good pics...

Looks pretty open to me. Also check out how the top of the kite is flat.

Couldn't find any good actual shots of the Nitro so here is a rendering from their website.

Just waking up on the left coast. I have a 2004 Outrage 14 and it has the flat top, sometimes called a C shape. I think they have a name for it, but I can't remember what it is. Will at Windwing says it adds about 1 m2 to the kites size. All I know is that it's very stable.

they look very similar to me. and seeing what windwing say about the extra m2 it would seem to me like its their baby.

You didn't forget Gaastra did it first, with their very first kite. They had a batten on the leading edge.

We're working our butts off to bring the goods on! Don't really want to do marketing on this forum, but willing to inform. Windwing kites have always had a higher "projected area" with wide wingtips. That's why they glide so nice and have "range". 05's are lighter, have even wider wingtips and turn faster. They fly static very nice and have quite the features. If you need more info regarding sales go to info@windwing.com.

Happy to answer any tech questions for better understanding. A kite can be designed that is simple to use with safety "built-in-to-design".

Thanks for asking,

Windwing R&D [/b]
