I have the same question and I probably ride in similar conditions to yours: North Sea coast, windswell only. For decent sized waves you have to have at least 20 knots. Wind will be onshore to side onshore, waves mushy and some strong currents and chop.
The question for me is length/width of the board.
On the one side boards around 5.8-6.0 feet in length, 45-47 cm width (example: Underground 5.8). They will probably give you most of the surf feeling but will be bumpier in strong winds.
On the other side shorter and narrower boards up to 5.5 feet in length and width around 42 cm (like the North Rocketfish Pin) which give more control going in a straight line.
At the moment I am tending towards the second option. I am not interested in the sizes of 5 feet or smaller as I have my mutants with similar sizes.
Rider weight 70kg and I want to use the surf board for light wind as well.

Been wanting to test the Fone, but was advised against it by dedicated wave riders because it is basically the same as a mutant (combination board) and not specific wave which I am always after.

I tried the F.one Legend. they have one here for demo. not even close to a mutant. rides great on both sides BUT needs wind.
rides amazingly soft, not bumpy like a surfboard when the wind picks up. the stance is very realax and easy to ride on the wave with pressure on the front leg while curving. the rails are soft and when you go upwind with it ,you ride more on the rails and not so much on the fin.
I didn't buy it because it needs at least 15 k to with a 12 m to ride a wave.
i am looking for a bigger board for 11-17 k . i spoke with our importer and he said that f.one may do a bigger legend.
that got me confused.
i think surfboard are great too especialy on the face of the wave.jibing is a pain in the ass but i may have to go for it anyway. i will test some boards and see what works for me. dam i wish there was a bigger legend,it could be great to compare it with a surfboard.

the guys who told you that this board is like a mutant should check again
on how boards look. if you look on the on top of the legend it looks as surfborad.only when you turn it ,you see the fin set and you understand that it is somthing else.
f.one never hype bulshit on boards and i respect them for that. there boards are usualy very good.

i don't know what the condition are in your spot but if you have good wind there, you must try the legend and see for yourself if it is good for you.
