This is a truly awesome kite in all respects - the only downside is that it appears that my depower rope is looking alarmingly freyed after only 5 sessions (I will post a pic).

Has anybody else experienced this?

Yhep is quite bad on mine. has happened on most SS center ropes.
Have put board wax on it which helps. but will have to order a spair or find a replacement from some where.

Buy a $1 candle from a bargain store.

Melt it in a pan.

Stick your depower rope in there and let it soak right into all the fibres.

Never worry about it fraying again.

nope never had it.. just lets it slid throw the bar better.

ARE WE STILL GETTING THE SAME PROBLEM WE'VE HAD FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS WITH THE TRIM CORD??? It's a pain in the arse and easily rectified if delt with at the R+D stage. Issue replacement cords with every kite, not really - sort the problem at source.

Come on guys it's a great kite, just beef up the bar shroud.

Wax works for the short term....but that's not the issue here.

How long do you let it soak in the melted wax?
And do you ever need to do it again? Or is once enough?

If you are concerned with how well the wax gets absorbed, be sure to get the wax as hot as possible. Let it just get to a slow boil, then turn the heat down and soak the cord.

The hotter the wax is is, the thinner it is, the better it will soak. Shouldn't take long to soak, the temp is the most important thing, not time.

I agree, the kite is fantastic, the depower is really incredible!
How could they do such a small hole in the bar?
I'm considering buying other bars, I've checked the Gaastra once and they looked like well done...
