Rechargeable kite pump - check this out!

Postby pure18knots » Mon May 24, 2010 3:59 pm

I brought one two days ago and it pumped both me and my friend's 16M no problem. Brought mine at a local retail store for $60.00 plus tax. Works much better than the Coleman I have. :naughty:

I spent 4.99 on my pump. Its yellow and I got it at target. It takes 5 minutes to pump up a kite.

Yes you can set the pressure and it shows the pressure only on the high pressure side. Don't know how long it take but it's not fast, may be about 5 minutes or more. And yes, I am very lazy so this is a cheap alternative and it works, the only down side is it doesn't like sand as it will keep the pressure buttons from functioning properly so just clean the sand off.

did you use the high-pressure path only? or did you first preinflate using the highvolume setting and then final inflate with high pressure? how precise can you set the target pressure ? can you set in single psi steps?

if it takes 5 minutes to pump your 16sqm tube, how can you call it better than the coleman ?

my coleman (pre-)inflates my 17sqm zephyr in 1:30 minutes:

(of course, i have to manually pump the rest to nominal pressure, takes aroun 20 seconds and 20 cycles with the normal double action hand-pump)

this is where the black and decker could rock!

Hercoln: I use the high volume first to preinflat then high pressure to finish it, no hand job needed. You can also use high pressure only but it takes too long. You can set it to whatever target pressure you want in single psi steps, to about 100 PSI according to the manual. It's better than the Coleman not because of how fast but because of doing the whole inflation in a single package, plus inflating the volley ball to play with when the wind is below my 16M's range, try that with the Coleman. I just went to test it on my car's tire and it worked so it should inflat any kite without a problem.

how do you charge the battery only by car? I would like a wall charger since my power in my car is only on when my car is on

also how long does it take to charge and does it work when plugged in the car and i have no battery?

The unit comes with an AC wall charger with a LED light that turns red when charging and green when charged. Also the LCD in the unit lights up with battery status when charging and in operation. The manual states to charge for 4 to 5 hrs, I initially did that and the battery hasn't depleted yet so I don't know how long the recharge time will be until I recharge it again. It also states not to operate the unit when the car engine is running.
