How many sessions does this kite have

Postby winduser » Thu Nov 05, 2015 12:10 am

I bought on Ebay a kite with the following description :

"Slightly used - in excellent condition - used approximately 10 times. Never crashed with no damage. Kite and kite bag only."

When I compared the bridle lines with another kite of mine that have 8 sessions it gives me the following picture.

I try to returned without success. I made a claim and I lost it.They told me that I cannot proof that the kite have more then 10 sessions.

So when you buy from a Ebay do not assume that the Buyer guaranty will protect you. Also when I did a review of the seller the review was rejected by Ebay. So 100 % positive feedback do not mean nothing.

My Ozone pig tails fade very quickly, but nothing like your top photo. It appears to show a lot of use.

What does the kite look like? Is it in ok condition?

Ive sold really good kites on ebay for a fraction of what they are worth. Ive sold beat up old kites with the desriptions stating that. I had a guy complain about a kite that was a steal at the price it sold at. I just wanted it out of my garage. What else is wrong with the kite?

Looks like the pigtails on my 2010 Airush Lithium 12 meter. I think they maybe left off a "0" in their ad. Looks closer to 100 times than 10. That being said - my old kite is still going strong. I just hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Ah the good old used ten times ad is very common around here. I've tried selling kites stating an honest 25 times, no response. Repost the ad with used 10 times and plenty of response. I tend to leave our the used x times from my ads now and take any ad stating used 10 times with a spade of salt.

I like to think these used less than 10 times ppl can only count to 10 because they run out of fingers to count on. Otherwise it could be true that the seller only used it 10 times and his brother used it 20 times and the previous owner used it 30 times which he fails to mention.

After 10 times the bridles should look brand new. My Core XR 7 is about 5 years old and the bridles are far better than the ones in the picture. Honestly, I have to say that I use my stuff 80% in fresh water, sea water is very different. But not 10 times for sure.

I would continue to fight with Ebay, they should be backing you on this. Get some written opinions from a few experts to confirm your case that the kite was false advertised and you were hoodwinked.
Then I would point them to this blog and threaten to take your story to social media and local newspaper etc. Most big market cities have a consumer advocate series on their local news, they are always looking for new stories , especially about giants like Ebay....squeeky wheel gets the oil...

This is also a great lesson to anyone buying online,,, asking for close up photos of telltale wear points like connectors is something I will always ask for in the future...

Good luck
