+1
Annoying and dangerous when people do this. Duffle bag is the way to go.

Its never put in the middle of the beach .Where I put them if you put your lines out or kite there you would have damage . paint them with fluorescent pink marking paint and streamers. Biggest problem is those who always need someone to launch and land their kites leaving their lines laid out and not rolling them up on the crowded beach.

Sometimes the best solution is the simplest one. The bag idea sounds the safest, least expensive, and most convenient. Why would anyone buy one of those dog, I mean kite anchors? Just wondering because I'm starting to notice a lot of broken shells on our local launch and might try the bag idea on the lighter days. Thanks Billie and LTP.

I hardly view tethered launching as a way to avoid the kite touching the ground and what you may find is that once you fill the bag with 80kg worth of sand, you placed that bag in the wrong place. I can only guess where the kite will sit before it's actually tethered.

I think the tethered launch is to keep your leading edge from dragging across any sharp/abrasive debris on the beach while self launching. I've actually tried it a few times at its not that hard to figure out the layout. Just kinda sketchy if the wind is gusty or shifty.

IB,
if I ever see you digging sand to fill your bag, I'll be sure to ask you what kind of worms you're collecting

I tried one of those cheap sand anchor from amazon: "Scuba Choice Screw in Super Sand Anchor for Anchoring your Float"
But in strong gusty wind it bent in half. It didn't help that I didn't depower kite (forgot)

Now I prefer to find some natural anchor or self launch. Furthermore it's a pain in the ass to bury those and often you realize you forgot to dig it out after returning to your car...
