I modified the spreader bar of my harness dakine C1 with a rope of dyneema.

I used a dyneema 6mm and above a 5mm as safety rope

What do you think? In you opinion is enough to not to break?

I have modified a standard spreader bar by cutting off the hook. I tied on a single length of spectra, much the same as you, but without the safety. Strength wise, you should be fine. Watch out for abrasion, especially around the knots. If you can, use an Antal low friction ring on the rope - they dramatically reduce both friction and wear.

One thing I found on my first session with this setup is that the knots for the slider rope had to be passing through the centre of the metal loop on either end of the bar. If they were allowed to rise up to the top of the loop, the spreader would twist from the pull of the kite. It's hard to tell whether your solution will do that or not.

Hello Berdy02,

I have modelled my own custom C1 off yours. I was hoping you could clarify the knot you have used on the right. It doesn't look like a bowline as it seems very clean and tidy. I wanted to replicate yours somehow. As you can see from my C1, I used a brummel splice on the left and a double davey knot on the right.
Cheers.

^^^ You'll see the pros with just the one rope most of the time....I guess even on the Ride Engines. In my experience however, ropes break after a while. The second rope I have set up is for this circumstance. I ride primarily off the top rope now. I can connect my CL to the lower back-up rope if needed to get me back to the beach.

got my 2017 C1 yesterday and put the new Dakine OPTION spreader bar on. Option spreader bar comes in 8'', 10'' or 12''.
I will not use the hook will use it with a ring.

Hey, looks nice!
Could you please share(if you know) what is the difference with the previous model C1?
I don't see the'17 listed in Dakine's website yet...
Should I opt for discounted 2016 or wait for the new one?
