What is a Backroll?

Postby Toby » Wed May 31, 2017 8:01 pm

Many people have it wrong when it comes to a Backroll.

Below you find two tutorials for a Backroll.

You can clearly see that they don't move the kite, but keep it on the same, forward flying position.

If you use your kite to jump and steer it behind the zenith for a loaded jump, then it is a Back Rotation or Back 360.

Here an example for a Back 720 or Double Back Rotation, which they called Double Backroll, which it isn't:

Nope, a back 3(60) involves a handlepass.

Sent backroll vs popped backroll is what you are talking about.

back 360, back 3 same thing. but it is not a back roll

its a on axis 360 where you back turns in to the direction of travel

you guys know a backroll is a frontside spin, not backside right? lol

a "backroll" is inverted. first video shows a hooked in fs 360, second one is close enough...

No, that's called an inverted backroll, just like you just unknowingly said. A normal backroll is when you don't send the kite and pop off the water to do your roll at a 45 degree angle.

The first trick is a 360,
the second is a normal backroll,
what you are talking about is an inverted backroll.

what's an unhooked back rotation with a send kite then in the unhooked world without handle pass?

if by "back" you mean backside (front roll rotation direction), it would just be a backside 360, passes are irrelevant to what the trick is called for the most part

and nah dude back rolls are all inverted, its just that kiters do them the gay dangle under the kite and spin around way and call it whatever they want
