Quark - A Gimble for GoPro's (If you're not totally burned on funding campaigns)

Postby Afoul » Tue Sep 19, 2017 5:24 pm

Made by a startup (I'm guessing) called Noir Matter (very trendy). The device is called the QUARK. It's suppose to be waterproof and said to be able to change the world. We'll see I guess, but if your into filming while kiting it could make editing a lot less of a pain or just more enjoyable for the casual recording of a session for yourself.

Hmmm..........that looks pretty appealing to me. I like the idea of having the gimble and camera as separate items. IE: you eat shit and wreck the gimble, but you still have a usable action cam. (not one very expensive broken gadget) The option to use my older GoPros would be useful. Form factor wise it looks similar if not smaller than the Arc from what I've seen online.

$210 isn't out of line either........as much as I hate startups, this could be tempting.

That is the rub. :-? I'm pretty tempted and probably will give it a go. My self-justification is that overall it seems like a relatively simple piece of hardware. How hard could it be to make it real and deliver on time?!

This gimbal is useful for walking. For kiting you should be lookin for 3-axis gimbal.

Tooling and Assembly, certification in 2 months seems tight looking at other projects still waiting to deliver... nice project though.

There is this project too:
