Very interesting update and kind of you to take the time to update us.

I agree on the PSI for Old-North kites seeming low compared to Blade 9psi and Ocean R at 11psi. Makes sense to increase it.

Is there a case for the unloaded 5th line? I know it’s only a safety now, but when the kite is jellyfishing it’ll help...maybe....worth testing?

Will be interesting to note if the Evo changes this year unlike the cosmetic changes to the other kites in the line up following the marmite reviews.

Happy kiting and hope no-one’s shooting at you for riding their special breaks

Re: 5th Line
I don't have a 5-line bar, so can't test. I'm not a huge fan of 5-line kites because of the tangled mess the lines always decide to become. Although, I was thinking about the performance difference from 6vs8psi and how much better it flies. After reading your post, I saw in one of Kevin Langeree's new Pivot video - it recommends 11.5psi. With that pressure I doubt there'd be any problems. I need to do some forum searching and see what other people are putting in their North kites. The 15m Rebel seems to be fine at 7psi with no issues, but the Evos definitely suffer.

I agree to see what happens with the new Evo. A friend of mine ordered an 11m, so will give it a go when she gets in sometime in November/December.

I always inflated my kites to 9-10 PSI. The 2018 and 2019 Evo are fairly similar in the 12m range. Before that I owned the 2016. I am sur;raised about the poor lowend, I took the 12m out when there were only surfs, hydrofoils and 17s ans stay on it until you start seeing 8 and 9’ Popping out. So range the 2019 and 2018 seem to be up there with the older iterations.

Just reviving the thread as the 2018 are in close outs and I think you can mix and match sizes between 2018 and 2019...

Riding the last couple months, I agree with the pressure increase. There's a load of difference between 7 and 9 PSI on the 12m when in overpowered conditions. It holds the shape much, much better when I'm manhandling the thing around the window. Little paranoid going past 8 PSI for crashing though.

In direct comparison to the 2016 Mono & 2014 Evo 12m it replaced riding on the same board, it definitely has less low end by 1-2kn. Like you said though, the top end is amazing and I'm just starting to think about the 10m when the 7/8s come out. Didn't notice any difference in the 12m 2019 vs 2018.

Rode 10m 2017 versus 2019. (We detested the 2018, flew off the front lines like a low Y, non pulleyed crapola kite that is anything but direct).

2019 is back in the mix. Good kite. Feels like a north kite again... aka duotone.
