Mother nature really hates America...Hurricanes, tornados, fires , floods , earthquakes, volcanos.

Stay safe, they are saying category 4, which is 150mph sustained...

We caught the tail end of a cat 1 hurricane last year, I was down at the beach just taking it in and a guy was trying to kite it, I think he was on a 5m and massively overpowered. He ended up being dragged down the beach after ejecting as the kite wouldn't land and his mate jumped on the kite.

He knew he was being daft, but wanted to try it.

I was happy with no kiting that weekend!

My dad (RIP) immigrated from Lithuania way back during the WWs, he choose Canada as his new home, when ever we would talk about why he choose Canada when the rest of his family choose the USA he always said that the USA was a country of natural disasters ... I always think of that when you hear of these things

Risk of natural disaster, the US is 45th out of 173 countries. Fact vs. perception or perhaps news coverage?

Between the Tornados and Hurricans no other country even comes close. We just have a unique geographical situation like no other.

I think you can make data look any way you want... I think its important to note the wiki page states
"the risk of becoming a victim of a disaster as a result of vulnerability"
This could include infrastructure... for example the Haiti earthquake while devastating there would probably not have such an extreme effect if it was in the USA or any other country that has building codes, emergency services etc... so the risk of being a victim is less in the USA but that may not mean there are fewer natural disasters... just the risk of becoming a victim is less
