King of the trust funders.

Kiteboarding has become an embarra$ment, $3000 kites and showing off your made up jump heights through your $300 gadgets. Absolutely rediculous.

Red Bull uses its gross drink to corrupt young minds . Drink tap water.

All that fluoride though -- aren't you worried?

What's minimum wage in NZ now? $3,000 would be about 15 minutes work now wouldn't it?

Red Bull King of the Air is the single best kiteboarding event on the entire calendar. Compare this event to what is going to happen in the olympics or any of the pro events like the wkl or the triple s or any of the other events, this king of the air blows the rest of them away. The only way you can hate on the red bull king of the air is if for some reason you hate every event and every kiter that is able to devote his life to this sport.

Best event of the year by far. This is what it's all about, huge tricks in huge wind doing stuff that looks like no other sport in the world.

You know rich trust fund kiddies do have an option. They could dress in despoke million dollar suits, buy fancy fancy rich kid cars, get their names in the national enquirer because of this or that affair they are having with some starlet. You want to hate on rich trust fund kiddies, you are looking in the wrong place. I say, "Hell yes, throw down!" What these rich kids are doing is a far far better thing that just about anything else they could spend their unearned income on. Save the hate for the rich kid crashing a ferrari. I can't hate a rich kid who crashes a kite doing a megaloop I just can't.

Ram airs are HOPELESS/inferior in BIG AIR events.

Big air events, possibly moreso than other disciplines, highlight the huge performance gap between inflatables and ram airs. For the characteristics 99.9% of riders want in big air competitions, ie fast turning, boost height, stability, safety, ease of setup, ease of maintenance, and resale, inflatables are MUCH better than ram airs. This is why no ram airs have EVER won a significant Big Air Event.

The reasons for the inferiority of ram airs in Big Air events follow:
TURNING & SLED EFFECT
The tips of inflatables act as rudders, enabling faster, more controlled turns. Also, they provide a "sled effect", leading to better stability and predictability. This "sled effect" is pronounced in C-kites and is noticeably poorer in bow kites and ram airs.

INFERIOR JUMPING
The excessive drag and inertia of ram airs causes them to sit further back in the window compared to inflatables, leading to inferior jump height, excessive bar pressure, and a tendency to pendulum under the ram air kite after boosting. Also, when ram airs move too close to the side of the window, they start collapsing and deforming.

Ignore the lies. Ignore the propaganda. Ram airs are aerodynamically inferior to inflatables. It is proven every day at your local beach and is well documented in world Big Air records and competitions.

Using jump three as an example, I figure Oli could do about 20 or 30 airstyle tricks and win the entire competition with one jump.

The 10m Soul has the same color scheme as well. It is an amazing kite and the hangtime is unreal, even for less talented kiters.

I wish that FS had used different color designations for each size of the Soul.

Glad puppy isn’t dead, just slow on the response and where is the copy and paste diatribe against foils. You are slipping Pumpy, let me help you with the title of your next thread:

if you saw the live stream of the event last year, you'd see that young Oli was a last minute invite (someone was sick/hurt), literally landed in Cape Town in the morning and was riding in the event, and completely pushing the top riders.

I don't care what kite he uses, I hope he's in the event, this kid is a sick rider.
Wasn't that his brother Tom?

As for rich kids...Carlos Mario from Brazil just became freestyle world champion again, second time now.

He is a local kid from the Cauipe lagoon, Brazil.

You wanna know how he grew up?
