we took out the list of forums from the home...this used to take too much space.
For me this basically means a two click procedure instead of one. I usually like to go into the corresponding forum and then check whats new.

This chaotic (all forums mixed) new entry list is the opposite of getting an overview. It defeats the purpose of having different forums. Why distinguish when its all mixed in the end (on the homepage) anyways?

I liked the forum overview and then a list of some current topics.

For a new visitor it becomes clear how broad this forum is and what is the latest. All others get simple access to where they want to go and get the latest.

Besides, I still think you can optimize the empty white (blue) space and get more content up.

Thanks for considering!

for me it is nice to see the latest from all forums...this means less clicking for me...imagine I have to click thru all forums to see the latest?

not sure what you mean. pls show me a screenshot.

What I dont like on the Homepage now is the banner between the topics. Its not clear in what direction there are new. Can't you move the banner up or down?

You will never know if you got all the latest, because there might have been more posts than shown on the homepage. So you still need to check individual forums...

Also, I understand you follow all subforums closely, but for people who don't, this is not relevant. When I first went on kiteforum.com I was positively surprised by the amount of subforums and also by the latest post section. To see one of these go is not good. See also my post above for more reasons.

Empty white space is marked with red circles.

Buttons/Links with 2 are redundant.

Buttons/Links with 3 are redundant.

Use empty spaces and get rid of redundancies to get more content to the top of the page.

Logo will stay!

We are not yet done with the changes...the top will change and less empty space will be visible.

Empty space at Gear Builders (Forum View): let me see what we can do.

Absolutely! The logo needs to stay.

For example: the whole line
Home > main forums > subforum

Could go where the subforum name is bigger (under the ad).

Also, "main forums" can go, since it is redundant to "choose forum". You don't seem to have a need for it on the homepage, so why stick with it on the subpages?

This is Safari on a MBP.

Red or Green?

The banner add in the middle of two columns interrupts the flow of reading. It might work if it were one column of text or if the banner adds were aligned with the text at the left edge. It would best if the banner was in a footer or sidebar.

Also just a suggesting regarding ads related to a pet peeve of mine on many sites. I think it happens on KF too. Sometimes as I click a link to a next page I see an ad that I want to click. Most of the ads are reruns and I have already determined they are not a match for me. But rarely that one ad pops up that I want to see and usually it happens as I navigate away. Then when I do the back button on the browser, there is a new set of adds. The website content is the same but the ads are refreshed. I see only the rerun ads that I don't want, and the one ad I want to click has disappeared. Maybe I click around the website hoping the ad reappears. Or if the ad made enough of an impression I can search for it on Google and find it. But if this happens, the website loses the revenue. So ideally in my mind, ads would stay static on the page for at least one browser session, allowing the same ads to appear when the back button is pressed. New adds would continue to refresh at a slightly lower frequency or for example appear on different pages.
