You can pick 2018 NHP split for £600 now,

Smaller size of NHP split gives it less low wind capability but it work great in high wind, feels like it’s easier to keep edge in strong wind on smaller board plus their damp choppy water far better than larger boards imho

As mentioned if you are going to buy it and use it few times a year while traveling probably not worth it but as main board it’s great and other than smaller size than I would prefer I don’t see any drawbacks

This is what I consider the easiest method, for someone whos not going to get fancy with composites or inserts at all. Youll see if you look close that this one was made to also make the board a bit longer, so its not the absolute simplest version but you get the idea.
Ill get another one out that I did differently (also not fancy haha) and post some photos here soon.

I was in a similar position and pulled the trigger about 18 months ago.
Here's a review I did at the time;
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2398218

I'm still happy with the board, though I hardly kite at all these days.

I'm heavy and certainly wouldn't use a split board for my 'home' board, not sure it'd take it!

Since I bought it, I'd add a couple of things;
I got the Concept Ruler from You Love it Kitesufing - was a good experience.
I'd consider the https://www.kitelementshop.com/
I heard the upwind of these boards is good.

Find a suitcase on Amazon to the size you want, probably cheaper and lighter than the Concept X suitcase.

It has taken the stress out of travelling with gear. No more trying to find the over size luggage arrival point and wandering around lonely arrival halls in odd places in the world!

Good luck with your choice.

It’s the time of year where kite sessions in the UK are limited and freezing, so my head turns to shopping 😀

Been considering a split board for some years. But the Nobile NHP is really expensive for a pre-broken board in bits.

What does the kitehive mind think?

Waste of money

or

Burn your old boards, this is the future

Here’s another one I did, using the wavy cut approach and less wood for less weight. Also very strong, tested thoroughly. A lot of screws, but I only take the one side apart so not too bad.

I prefer the straight cut approach shown on the tandem board for its simplicity, but both have worked very well.

I've got two of 'em.
A 132 Progeni split board that I've had for at least 6 years.
A 146 wave TT split board that I built about 2 years ago.
Both work as well as my normal boards.
Definitely recommended.
On your build, did you do a scarf joint where the halves meet?

No, plain old butt joint with a plate on top.

Any reason to not do a scarf that I might be overlooking?

Any pics available? Thanks
If you do not dislike the pieces of wood (cleats), the (reference) Saucisseman method is very simple with 10 to 12 screws with flat heads on the board bottom:
F-one Style transformation (2007) then NAISH SOL (2012)
Cleats made of beech can be thinner than pine as beech is more dense therefore more resistant.

^^^
That right there is the way to go. Simplest method and light.
Note the use of the handle inserts to screw down the middle cleat thus two less holes through bottom of board.
